Dorothea Galli received her concert certificate in
cello performance in the studio of Andre Navarra,
1974. She played in the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the
Kelna Chamber Orchesta.
In 1972 she began her vocal studies with Professor
Elza Kavelti. She participated in master classes with
Leonore Kirschstein, Carla Castellani and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf.
Since 1978 she has been a constant guest artist in
Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Karlsruhe, Mannheim, Zurich,
Luzern and other cities. She is a laureate of the Geneva
International Vocal Competition.
Dorothea Galli’s repertoire includes over twenty leading
opera roles: Arabella, Marschallin, Countess, Fiordiligi,
Elvira, Mimi, Tatjana, Margarethe, Fidelio-Leonore
etc. Her concert programs range in style from Baroque
to the present day.
In 1990, as a member of the city music committee, Dorothea Galli took an active part in forming Zurich’s cultural
policies. She speaks as a state expert in high schools throughout
Switzerland, and is a jury member of various competitions.
In 2002 she gave a master class at the Saint Petersburg Conservatoire.
She speaks German, French, Italian, English, Spanish, and
Russian.
