The activities of the Student Orchestra are of a level and quantity similar to those of a professional ensemble. The Orchestra participates in numerous activities dedicated to anniversary celebrations offamous musicians and memorable events in the life of the country, research conferences.

The Orchestra’s concert repertoire includes folk song arrangements, original works of contemporary authors, and classic Russian and Western compositions. A significant part of the repertoire consists of instrumentations and arrangements of the group’s director, Professor A.V.Tikhonov, as well as students’ creative works.

The ensemble collaborates with Saint Petersburg composers who write for Russian folk instruments (N. Martynov, V. Bibergan, N. Shakhmatov, I.Tsvetkov, A. Shalov), soloists and choral ensembles.
