He is author of the operas “Virineya”, The Master and
Margarita”, “Maria Stewart”, “Hamlet”, The Vision of Ivan the Terrible”;
the ballets “Ikar” and “Princessa Pirlipat”; eleven symphonies;
numerous vocal, chamber-instrumental, symphonic and choral compositions;
music for the films “Shkid Republic” and “Intervention”; and works
for piano. In May 2005 the Mariinsky Theatre premiered Slonimsky’s
ballet production of E.T. Hoffman’s “Magical Nut”, with libretto
and staging by Mikhail Shemyakhin.
