This unique ensemble, the only one of its kind in Russia, was founded in 1999 by Alexander Shilo, a well-known Russian contrabass player and pedagogue.

From the time of its initial performances this young group has earned the acknowledgement of numerous listeners and exacting critics. The musicians perform on St. Petersburg’s best stages as well as in other Russian cities and have toured abroad in Germany, Poland, and Estonia. Quattrobass’ original repertoire includes arrangements of classical pieces and works by St. Petersburg composers.
