In 2004 Ilya Ostromogilsky graduated from the Conservatoire in the composition studio of Professor A. D. Mnatsakanyan. In the same year he entered the postgraduate program of the Saint Petersburg Conservatoire.

Competition awards include: First Place in “I Am a Composer” (Saint Petersburg 1995, 1996, 1997); First Place in VII International Competition-Festival “Hopes, Talents, Masters” in Bulgaria (Dobrich, 2003); Special Award at the VIII International Festival “Virtuosi of 2000” (Saint Petersburg, 1999); M.L. Rostropovich Scholarship Recipient (2003); Saint Petersburg Governor’s Grant Recipient (2004).
