The members of the ensemble are recent graduates of the Saint Petersburg Conservatoire — well-moulded musicians with considerable concert, touring, and international competition experience.

The ensemble’s creation has the character of an enterprise: the group was formed specifically to perform a quartet composition of the young, promising composer Ilya Ostromogilsky. The first performance of that composition took place in the year 2000. In 2005 the work was presented at a master class of R. Shedrin, where it earned high marks from the composer.
