International Research Conference
A. K. GLAZUNOV. HIS TIME AND WORKS

The International Research Conference “A.K. Glazunov— His Time and Works” encompasses a wide range of problems related to researching Glazunov’s heritage and the sources and traditions of his artistic work in modern times. Well-known researchers of the composer’s works will present papers at the conference. Nikolai Vorontsov, President of the Glazunov Fund in Munich, and Larisa Urban, a member of the Fund’s directors have been invited to the conference as honoured guests.

EUROPEAN HIGHER MUSIC EDUCATION:
CURRENT STATUS AND FUTURE POSSIBILITIES

From October 5—7 2005 the Saint Petersburg Rimsky- Korsakov State Conservatoire with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Federal Agency of Culture and Cinematography of the Russian Federation, Association of European Conservatories, Association of Conservatories (CHAIN), is holding an international research conference titled “European Higher Music Education — Russia, the CIS, and Europe: Current Status and Future Possibilities.”

The conference program includes papers and reports on previously announced topics, discussions and roundtables, all of which are dedicated to comparative analysis of: educational programs; teaching methods & results in various higher educational facilities in Russia, CIS countries, and Europe; the correlation of the levels of education; and the problems of academic and professional acknowledgement of diplomas from Russian, CIS and European educational institutions.

The proposed subjects presume a multifaceted elucidation of the current state of national music education systems within Russia, the CIS and Europe as well as these institutions’ readiness to enter the educational territory of the whole of Europe (organizational and institutional forms)—the conditions for the appearance of a unified educational territory in the area of musical art in Russia, the CIS countries, and Europe.
