HENRYK WIENIAWSKI

Henryk Venyavsky (1835—1880) was a leading Polish violinist, conductor and composer. Born in Lublin, he began his studies at the music school at 6 years of age, and in two years time was accepted into the Paris Conservatoire to study with the famous pedagogue L. Massar. In 1859 Venyavsky was invited to Saint Petersburg to fill the role of court soloist (1860—1872) and quickly became the first Violin professor at the Saint Petersburg
