THE YOUTH PLUCKING ORCHESTRA 
The Youth Plucking Orchestra of the North-Rhine/Westphalia region is an audition orchestra for the best young mandolin and guitar play ers from North-Rhine/Westphalia. The orchestra was created in 1977 and since that time has provided advanced plucking orchestra education of a high musical and technical level for young instrument players. The players receive training from teams of professional lecturers during several instruction periods throughout the year. Contemporary music holds a special place in the orchestra’s repertoire, including numerous premier performances. In addition, the orchestra performs works of all periods showing their artistry with unique style and flair. The orchestra has given concert tours in several countries: Scotland, Poland, Benelux, Switzerland, Spain and Japan. The orchestra’s Artistic Director and Conductor since 1994 is Prof. Christian de Witt.
